THE PRINCESS AND THE PURSE
This is the new direction I’m taking this project into. I wanted to make an Urban Fairy Tale, so here’s what my reference will be. The original “Little Mermaid” by Hans Christian Anderson was written as a dark cautious fairy tale, very unlike the Disney remake. In Hans’ story, the Little Mermaid fails to win the heart of the Prince and dies in the end and becomes a spirit of the air. I want Cynthia to be the anti Ariel, the girl who believes she never has enough to be happy. Her desire to have the perfect purse leads her to old age.
LA BRUJA
The mysterious old woman who casts the spell on Cynthia. She shares the same league of classic Grimm Fairy Tale Witches. Our witch, Bruja, does not come from the same vicinity of our main characters. It’s a mystery of her exact whereabouts, but some main pin point her origins from Eastern Europe, or far far away…
